📰 The General Scoop:

  • Butterflies on a break! The Florida Museum’s Butterfly Rainforest will close in early January for a $20M expansion and renovation. The grand glow-up reveal? Set for 2026. Mark your calendars... in pencil 🙂

  • Wait, I thought daylight savings was over!? Nope, not yet! The first day of fall (well, for places that actually have a real fall 🍂) is September 22. Time to cue up the pumpkin spice everything! And don’t forget, the fall back happens on Sunday, November 2nd.

  • Well, that was fast! Silver Airways is stopping its GNV—FLL flights on September 10th due to low demand. Guess we’re back to road tripping to South Florida!

  • Big win for GRACE Marketplace They just secured a $1.5M contract renewal from the Gainesville City Commission. Not familiar with GRACE? They’re doing important work to reduce homelessness in GNV.

🏢 Business News:

  • Dinner with a side of mini-golf?! Yes, please! CenterCup, an Arnold Palmer-themed dining and mini-golf experience, is coming to Butler. Gainesville got picked as the first spot, but they’ve got plans to expand across Florida. Better practice that putting stroke!

  • Something for everyone! City Food Hall opened on August 29th at the bottom of the Standard. It features 10 local chefs cooking up a variety of cuisines, plus a packed schedule of in-real-life events.

🏅 Sports News:

  • Go, DJ! That’s our DJ! 🏈 Florida Gators freshman QB DJ Lagway just broke records that were previously held by 2006 National Champ Chris Leak. He threw for 456 yards and 3 touchdowns. Feels good to celebrate some Gator football news again, doesn’t it?
