📰 The General Scoop:
🏫 Sante Fe College Triples Enrollment: Santa Fe’s downtown spot is on fire! Since opening Blount Hall in 2022, they’ve tripled continuing ed enrollment and doubled credit courses. President Broadie says it’s all about accessibility. They're also planning to turn the nearby strip center into a workforce development hub, complete with an automotive tech center.
Teachers vs. District: The Alachua County teachers' union is in a showdown with the district over salaries. They want a 3.2% raise, but the district’s sticking to a 1.6% offer. Teachers are calling it a “slap in the face.” Tensions are high; stay tuned!
🏢 Business News:
🗺️ Gainesville Chamber Hosts Scavenger Hunt: If you’re into scavenger hunts, listen closely! There are 100 custom made gators (decorated by local artists!) that will be dispersed around Gainesville at local restaurants and venues. Clues will be released on the Chamber’s social platforms. One gator=one raffle ticket. What’s on the line? 2 season tickets to UF football for the 2025 season. It starts September 21st, and will go through October 3rd.
🏅 Sports News:
🏐 Gator Volleyball wins a 5-set nail biter against Florida State. Gabrielle Essix lead the Gators on offense with 16 kills and freshman libero, Elli McKissock led the Gators with 18 digs.
Napier on Gator Talk @ 7 PM: Florida football Head Coach Billy Napier is set to make an appearance on "Gator Talk" on Thursday, Sept. 19, at 7 p.m. This event will take place at Miller's Ale House at Celebration Pointe

UF Homecoming Charity 5K @ 5:30 PM at First Magnitude Brewing. It’s not quite homecoming yet, but the festivities are beginning. Expect a night of fitness, community, and giving back at the Inaugural UF Homecoming Charity 5K! This event will support Sleep in Heavenly Peace, a national charity that builds and delivers beds to children in need ❤️
