📰 The General Scoop:
UF takes a tumble UF fell from #1 public university to #34 in the WSJ public university rankings. Why? Lower salary impact scores. But the silver lining is UF had higher diversity scores and graduation rates!
Gator heads to space! Rob Ferl, a UF faculty member, is doing a plant experiment in Space aboard Blue Origin’s New Shepard rocket. 🚀
Insurance heads up UF Healthcare and United Healthcare failed to reach an agreement, so UF Healthcare is not considered in-network as of September 1. Not great news, but there’s confidence it will be resolved soon!
Local 4 year old diagnosed with aggressive cancer Jake Maher collapsed at preschool recently, and he’s undergoing treatment on an aggressive form of cancer. His parents are hard working community members but don’t have sick leave or health insurance. If you’re in a position to help support, please do so.

A Relish(ed) relic: Relish, a fast casual build your own burger spot with 3 locations closed their mid-town local unexpectedly. There’s already plans for a Gator Bodega in its spot. For those who love a good NY bodega, let’s hope it lives up to the hype!
I scream, you scream, we all scream for… 🍦 Mayday ice cream is opening a Gainesville location next to Hyppo on SE 2nd Ave downtown. They have locations across Florida. Looks like they’re throwing a grand opening on Monday 9/16 at 12 PM - perfect excuse for a sweet treat
🏅 Sports News:
Soccer sting ⚽️ Florida Gators soccer dropped their first game to the reigning national champion Florida State seminoles, 3-0 on Sunday. Never fun losing to a Nole, but the Gators feel poised to start SEC play.
